Kaya baat hai, janab! Yaad-e -maazi bhi aik haqiqat hai.
Hello,
Can anyone tell me how much a monthly newspaper, in Lahore, would have cost in 1963-66, please?
And, would newspapers have published poetry competitions?
Thank you.
For some reason money did not matter too much in those days and most of us were contented with whatever we had.
Good memories refreshed. Good Job & thanks.
Correction: GRUNDIG radios were not manufactured by Syed Bhais…Syed Bhais in Lahore were authorized distributors of this German Brand!
Dear Maj Arfaeen,
Thanks for pointing out this mistake. The same has now been corrected in the Post.
Nostalgic indeed! Considering that the labour wages those days hovered around Rs.50 per month, a ticket from Karachi to Lahore for Rs. 146 in 1954 must have been astronomically expensive.
I will say: time was inexpensive, so, we were happier then. Cost comparisons never come out in one’s favour, I believe.
