Researchers say that to sleep on the left side is preferred, as the heart would be under pressure of the right lung, the largest of the two lungs, and this would affect its kotraksjon (contraction), especially if the person is old. Also ensure that a full stomach which itself is under pressure from the heaviest organ in the digestive tract, liver, which delays its emptying, would also put further pressure on the heart. For this reason, encourages the people to sleep on the right side especially for patients who have some form of heart disease.
This is evident in one of the hadiths: 816 . ‘Aisah said: “The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to pray eleven rakat at night. When it was dawn, he would pray two short rakat and then lie on his right hand when mu’adhdhin came and gave Adhana. ” (Al-Bukhari)
In another hadith it emerges: 814 Al-Bara ‘ibn’Azib said, “When the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to retire to bed, he would lie on his right side and say: “O Allah, I surrender my soul to You and I turn my face to You and I entrust my case to you and I seek Your support with hope and fear of You. There is no refuge from You but to You. I have believed in your book that you sent down and Your prophets you sent. ” (Al-Bukhari)
