                                                 Nk Saif Ali Janjua (Hilal-e-Kashmir)

  Nishan-e-Haider is the highest military gallantry award given by Pakistan. It is awarded to military personnel for extraordinary bravery in combat. To date only 11 awards have been made; 10 Nishan-e Haider and one Hilal-e-Kashmir (which is equivalent to Nishan-e-Haider). Feat of Legendary Sqn Ldr MM Alam. Sqn Ldr Muhammad Mahmood Alam was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat for his actions during 1965 Indo-Pak War. He downed, with his F-86 Sabre, five Indian aircraft in less than a minute — the first four within 30 seconds — establishing a world record. He later retired as an air Commodore.

TERROR In the Himalayas.  Drama In real Life. July 1994 issue of Reader’s Digest contains the story of rescue operation conducted by Army Aviation pilot Colonel  Zakaullah Bhangoo, his co-pilot Major Shahid Rana and a militia man Chaudhry Siddique in Puma helicopter on September 10, 1992 in Kel Sector, Northern Areas. Helicopter Rescue Operation at 22,300 Feet. In 2005, Lt Col Rashid Ullah Baig, led a rescue mission in Llama helicopter with his co-pilot Maj Khalid and Homaz Humar at an altitude of 22,300 feet at Nanga Parbat.
