Baba Bulleh Shah is one of the greatest sufi poets of Punjab. He was also a philosopher and humanist. Bulle Shah’s actual name is Abdullah Shah. Bulle Shah was born in 1680, in a small village Uch, Bahawalpur. His ancestors had migrated from Uzbekistan.
His father got a job in Pandoke, about 50 miles southeast of Kasur. Bulleh Shah received his early schooling in Pandoke and moved to Kasur for higher education.
Bulleh Shah’s poetry is called the Kafi, a style of Punjabi, Sindhi and Saraiki poetry used by the Sufis of Sindh and Punjab and even Sikh gurus. Bulleh Shah’s poetry and philosophy firmly criticizes the Islamic religious orthodoxy of his day. Bulleh Shah basically revolted against religious no-go areas of Muslim Mullah and pleaded to reach to Allah through love of humanity and tameness of inner self. He died in 1757. His tomb is located in Kasur.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sings Bulleh Shah Poetry. Nurat Fateh Ali Khan & party sung a Punjabi qawaali in a concert in Birmingham. He started off with some poetry from Bulleh Shah, then ‘Ni mein jaana jogi‘ part, then shifted to ‘Akhiyan udeek diyan‘ for a while. Again back to ‘Ni mein jaana‘. I have liked this collection. No doubt Baba was true and great person. May Allah bless him. We are having some great people around only because of that teaching by these great scholars. The most concentration that Baba Bulleh Shah wants us to put is “How we can reach to Allah”. By Praising Him (Allah) at midnights and help His creature (Human Beings).
Pir Bulleh Shah basically revolted against religious no-go areas of Muslim Mullah and pleaded to reach to Allah through love of humanity and tameness of inner self. The disputed verse is not part of ‘ranjha ranjha kardi’; actually it is part of another poem which is correctly given in the site. out of the two, 2nd is correct one and it is correctly given in the poem to which it belongs, ‘ keeh jaannan mein koi vay arya’
